The overall classification of carbon materials

Carbon materials include hundreds of varieties and thousands of specifications of products.

According to the material, carbon materials can be divided into carbon products, semi-graphite products, natural graphite products and artificial graphite products.

According to performance, carbon materials can be divided into graphite electrodes and graphite anodes, carbon electrodes and carbon anodes, carbon blocks, paste products, special carbon and graphite products, carbon products for mechanical and electronic industries, carbon fibers and their Composite materials and graphite chemical equipment, etc.

According to service objects, carbon materials can be divided into carbon materials for metallurgical industry, carbon materials for aluminum industry, carbon materials for chemical industry, carbon materials for mechanical and electronic industries, and new carbon materials for high-tech sectors.

According to the function of use, carbon materials can be divided into three categories: conductive materials, structural materials and special functional materials:

(1) Conductive materials. Such as graphite electrodes for electric arc furnaces, carbon electrodes, natural graphite electrodes, electrode paste and anode paste, graphite anodes for electrolysis, electric brushes and mold materials for EDM.

(2) Structural materials. Such as the lining of ironmaking furnaces, ferroalloy furnaces, calcium carbide furnaces, aluminum electrolytic cells, deceleration materials and reflective materials for nuclear reactors, the lining materials for the heads or nozzles of rockets or missiles, corrosion-resistant equipment in the chemical industry, and corrosion-resistant equipment in the machinery industry. Grinding materials, crystallizer graphite lining for continuous casting of steel and non-ferrous metal smelting industry, semiconductor and high-purity material smelting devices, etc.

(3) Special functional materials. Such as biochar, various types of pyrolytic carbon and pyrolytic graphite, recrystallized graphite, carbon fiber and its composite materials, graphite intercalation compounds, fullerite carbon and nanocarbon.
